Medicaid services are one of the cornerstones of the American healthcare system, providing health-care coverage to nearly 1 in 5 Americans, including low-income individuals and families, children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities.

In the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, MAGA extremists call for an imposed "targeted time limits or lifetime capts on Medicaid benefits." This would mean that  once a person has been on Medicaid for a set

amount of time, they could lose eligibility for Medicaid coverage, regardless of their financial situation.

This could cause devastating coverage losses, with a large percentage of residents living in Fannin County being eliminated from Medicaid coverage, once the arbitrary limit of service coverage has been reached.  This would be a threat to the health and economic security of millions of Americans.  Stripping residents of their Medicaid benefits would leave many low-income enrolless...without any affordable coverage options, forcing them to forgo essential medical care and undermining their ability to work.

This is particularly concerning to residents in Georgia because Governor Kemp has not adopted the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion.  In Georgia, Medicaid income eligibility levels for non-disabled adults who are also not pregnant is extremely low, meaning that if they make more than a couple thousand dollars a year, the resident won't qualify.  These limits already create barriers to accessing care and imposing a lifetime limit on Medicaid would further restrict access for those who need help the most.  Individuals and families would have no option for affordable coverage and would be left to face steep out-of-pocket costs for care.

If Project 2025 is passed, Medicare would be banned from negotiating

drug prices and the current cap on Insulin at $35 would be eliminated.  Furthermore, the $2,000 cap for prescription medications which is set to take effect in 2025, will nevercome to fruition because MAGA Republicans will eliminate this benefit for seniors, allowing pharmaceutical companies to continue price gouging seniors.  If Project 2025 is allowed to continue, nearly 600,00 Georgians would see a rise in their current prescription drug costs.

President Biden and Vice President Harris championed the effort to cap senior prescription drug prices at $2,000 because they recognized that pharmaceutical companies were reaping the benefits of these excessive costs while burdening our seniors with unimaginable debt.
